I just bought my first F150 yesterday and I'm ready to start modding!

The first mod I plan on making is the intake, however I can't seem to find one that fits my truck.

The Air Aids on Steeda's site don't seem to fit my year/engine combination. The 5.4L intakes they have listed are for 00-04. The only thing they seem to have for my year are for the 4.6l engine.

So then I checked out K&N's site and found a few that seem to match up with my engine. This one appears to fit and adds about 13hp: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=57-2541

Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I know nothing of Ford parts and brands (except for some of the big players like Steeda and Rousch)

It should also be noted that I come from a turbocharged 4cyl tuner background, so I'm all for the loudest intake possible... but HP and gas mileage are bigger issues.

Also, what year trucks have my same engine model? Just so that I can search for parts easier....

ok, after more reading, it looks like the 3 inch airforce one will mount right up to my engine without any tuning or chips... and apparently produces about 18 more hp.

i also read a bit about troyer tuning... would you recommend i get a chip from troyer with this mod? or should i go for a 3.5" intake bigger and then order a chip?

Definately go with the AF1. Best intake out there for the F150, IMHO. I love mine. You can't get the 3.5" intake for the 2V 5.4 V8. And yes, a custom tune from Troyer (with an exhaust) will really make a difference although it's not needed for the 3" intake.
