Question 3.5" AF1 Lean Condition

Okay I have been trying to do some researching here on the forums about the supposed LEAN condition if you slap a 3.5" AF1 on your stock tunes truck. So far I haven't been able to find anything. Maybe I am just looking for the wrong search words. But from what I seen, it is only hear-say. I know that Troyer himself says you need a custom tune.

Does anyone have a dyno sheet that shows the A/F ratio of the 3.5" compared to the 3" AF1? I am curious to see when the lean condition starts at.

Anyone know the CFM difference b/t the two models off-hand also?

Hi Turd! ( lol again)

Your lack of search skills is an excuse, not a reason That info is there, alrighty....

Try searching for posts by "F150 Duke" and "NCSU_05_FX4".

Both those folks had problems with tuning and the larger AF1's.

It is NOT hearsay - that 3.5" alters the MAF TF enough to absolutely require a tune adjustment.

Your other option is to just to pick up the phone and call TP, or AirForceOne.

So the PCM in the F-150 doesnt compensate for the increased airflow on it's own? Seems kinda shabby that the PCM cant adjust the timing and fuel curve on take advantage of the increased air flow on its own.

I am use to boosted vehicles with a map based system in which if modifications are added to increase flow BEFORE the MAP sensor, all it good and the PCM uses the sensor to calibrate itself. It's mods after the sensor that you have to tune for.

FYI - I have the 3.25" not the 3.5" AF1.

The 3.25" required tuning as well. Only the 3.0" can be run on stock tunes.
