Dual in Dual out question

I am currantly running JBA/ Gibson shorty headers along with 2 Magnaflow high flow cats, and a Magnaflow cat back wit ha 18" muffler if I was to keep the shorty's and high flows but cut off the factory "Y" and run duals to a 14" magnaflow dual in dual out and dumo it or put it out the side like a Lightning how much louder will it be?

And what preformance diffence is there better or worse?

Keep in mind the reasom I want to do this is that I think the 18" is too quiet

Do you have single exhaust now.I also plan on doing a lightning style exit.Looks great on a lifted truck IMO!!It should sound great and should be louder than the 18inch single. As long as you set it up correctly you should gain performance.Cut the factory Y and have that bent over the crossmember, put an X-Pipe in place, use 2 1/4 pipe all the way until your tips.
Also not sure on the muffler spacing for the DI/DO muffler???I ran 2 single Magnaflows and there is enough clearance to have no bends after the X-Pipe to your mufflers. The pipe can be perfectly straight with no bends!!Take a look in my gallery for reference.Yours will sound bad a$$ with the high flows in place,

Oh and here is what the lightning style looks like on a lifted truck....

Just going from the 18" to a 14" maggie will sound a bit louder/deeper. Go for it

if i were you, cut the Y and run true duals and use either two 14" magnaflow magnapacks or two 12" dynomax bullets, then exit lightning style. should sound awesome!

I see now......i would still get the X-Pipe in addition to the X muffler. The X-Pipe should be placed as close to the last converter as possible. How much is that X muffler??I know you can get 2 mufflers like i'm talking about and an X-Pipe for about $180 www.performancepeddler.com

Kevin,

What size mufflers are you rinning 4",5",or 6" round?

And why get the X pipe if the muffler has one in it....more tourqe or??

also what I was going to at first was to get a local guy to cut off the "Y" pipe and run 2 pipes into a DIDO 14" maggie and dump it or put it out he side like a Lightning, but I'm having second thought's and might go true duals out the side with a X pipe

They are the 4 inch round with a 2 1/2 inch core. They are 14 inch body with 2 1/4 inch inlet/outlet.The X-Pipe being way back in the system you will not get the best results. The X-Pipe should be placed as close to the last converter as possible.I currently have mine dumped and plan to do the lightning exit as well.I can find the part ## for the mufflers if ya want??Whichever way you go it will sound great Mine is more quiet now since the 35 inch tires(turning less RPM's}Use 2 1/4 pipe all the way and make the least bends as possible.

Hey Kevin,

What did you do with the rear O2 sensor that goes into the "Y" pipe ? I can see it has to be relocated but to where and what spot?

No I never cut it yet, I actually just got my X pipe the other day and still need to pick up my mufflers or just go to local guy here, here's a pic of the factory "Y" looking towards the rear of the truck here you can see where the O2 sensor is placed and what I am talking about
