Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow
Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow
I love the way my flowmaster sounds on my 4.2L but I hate the way it kills my low end. Im debating on switching to a magnaflow, What do you guys think?? Louder?? Better?? Also thinking of dumping it in front of the right rear tire.
Call magnaflow (1.800.824.8664) and ask one of the techs what kind of muffler to use... I had a super 40 and replaced it with a 14" dynomax Ultraflow, I would never go back to flowmaster... ever... Besides I like the sound of my dynomax over my old super 40. Mellower way deeper tone & no drone. Make sure you DONT get dual out because that also effects your low end torque. I got a single in single out center/center.
PS I also dumped it in front of my rear passenger side tire. Looks clean and really nice.

You have to remember, you have a 6 cylinder which doesn't have a lot of low-end power to begin with. So a performance exhaust (less restrictive regardless of the brand) is going cause you to lose some low-end power no matter what brand you go with.
If you like the sound of the Flowmaster, then keep it. Magnaflow is junk, you will not notice any difference in the low-end (you may even lose more as it is a straight-through design which reduces back pressure even more) and it will be covered in rust in less than a year (but it is "Stainless" they say).
If you want to get something else, buy something that is made from T-304 Stainless as it will hold up much better.
