Pacesetters and cats

I want to rework my whole flow master exhaust I just have 2 questions. If i buy long tube pacesetter headers how long will they last. I figure i can get 3 sets of pacesetters for 1 set of dynatechs and I'm not going to have the truck for too much longer anyway. And the second question is what is the difference from a $500 cat and a $75 cat. I want high flow, but i still want to be able to pass smog...I'm in California where they have smog detecting traffic cameras so i want to avoid that $1000 Ticket in the mail.

Magnaflow high flow cats burn cleaner than the factory cats. Are you talking shorty or long tube headers?
