i just got MAC direct replacement shorty headers for my 00 5.4 4x4 does anyone have any heplfull hints or tricks for header installs? is there anything i should do first to make my life easier? any helpfull info would be awesome. thanks everyone!!!

 

have you already taken your manifolds off? If not id send them back and save the work. I have had 2 sets of shorties and gained no hp or torque anywhere... save for long tubes, which i gained 30hp and 35ftlbs. If you want to install them anyway, take the inner fenders out, soak the studs and nuts in penetrating lube... and be careful!

 

i havent taken them off yet but i have a couple snapped studs and a CRAZY leak that has been bugging me for awhile. for the cost of new manifolds i figured these are a good replacement for the cost difference.

 

yea in that case its ok... good luck with the studs, hopefully when you get the manifold off, you can get ahold of the stud, if any is sticking out and twist it out

Just wanted to see if you got your shortys installed and if so how the install went. I too have an exhaust leak at the manifold and am considering buying the shortys to replace the stock manifolds. There is no way I can buy the long tubes unless I win the lottery.
