Air Intake for 2005 F-150
I just installed the S&B on my 05 screw 5.4. Its great but is loud as hell in the cab. At 1800 rpms it resenats really bad. Im going to put Dynomat on the bottom side of the intake box and see if that works. As far as performance it is great. And pulls nice up top.
Outlaw Power ($200) and Banks Power ($400) are my favorite intakes.
The Outlaw Power is an enclosed filter intake with the NeverOil synthetic filter (filter media developed with Caterpillar). The Banks Power has an oiled cotton filter.
Here are the dyno tests and dyno video:

The video is of a forum member's F150.

I ask because, yes, the S&B is a loud CAI, but with an aftermarket [SIDO or, even better, true dual exhaust] the S&B really doesn't sound that loud.
Agree with the rest of your post.

i love my K&N 57 series intake. nice and throaty on acceleration, but no annoying drone and is dead silent on the highway untill you step on it.. adds nice power too, plus the million mile warranty.
I installed the S&B last week and had a bad resinating noise at 1800rpms. Almost to the point I was going to sell it. But the performance was exellent with my exhaust and programer. So today I figured I was going to loosen everything up and check all fittings. Well I must have tighten everything to tight because as soon as I began loosening a few couplers it all adjusted it self and its a lot more quiet
I took it for a 20 minute run with the wife and kids and the wife thought I put the stock intake back in until I merged on to the highway.
Im 100% happier with this intake now. On a side note everyone who sees this on my truck has loved it.
