Magnaflow 16664 on 5.4 triton
Magnaflow 16664 on 5.4 triton
Does the magnaflow catback ( # 16614 I think thats the part #) system sound like stock at idle. I would like to upgrade but also I little rumble at idle and take off would be nice but not at cruising on the highway.
I have the 5.4 triton 2004 what do you think , will this system compliment as a descent upgrade with the evo added.

Hi Jack!!
Sorry if this is off topic, but I think your push bar is sweet. I've been looking for one that is a black / stainless combo, but without the dumb headlight grilles. Any chance you could post some pictures from different angles? DId you have to remove the towhooks?
Thanks,
CJ

You would have to find out which muffler they use for that system but I just switched from the center in offset si/so 18-inch 5x8 to a 24-inch 5x8 which is one of the biggest ones they make (bigger=quieter) and you can hear it at idle and cruising but definitely under any throttle it wakes up. A far cry from stock at any rpm but probably 25% quieter than the 18-inch.
As far as performance IMO you may see some difference on a dyno but without major engine mods I don't believe exhausts do much. I've never really felt much power increase from just an exhaust mod on any vehicle I've been in especially a 6,000 pound truck. The tuner should make a difference though.

If the 16614 is the SIDO, then yes, it has a nice rumble on start up and at idle, not too loud but you can definitly hear it. I like it because it's pretty quiet when driving around town, but when I do step on it, it really gives an aggressive sound.

Yes that is the correct part # 16614 , thanx for the input thats what Im looking for as per your description of tone. I just ordered it, it will be on the truck by monday night.
Your going to love the sound.
I just installed my 16616 from Magnaflow and I loooooove it. Very nice startup sound, only a little rumble at idle, and as soon as you give it even the slightest touch of gas it lets out a nice, deep rumble.
