Question about switching exhaust to Dynomax

Right now I have a SI/SO Magna flow and I am pretty unhappy with it. It want a little louder and a good bit deeper sound. I have pretty much decided on the Dynomax Bullet but I have a configuration question. Would I gain any performance or sound by going with a true dual design using an x-pipe over keeping the SI/DO setup? BTW both setups have the exhaust dumped before the axle. I don't want to get into messing with the cats or anything but I thought the true duals might be a way to gain a little more sound. I want people to know I have a V8 without being worried about the neighbors complaining if I come home late. With the magnaflows it sounds like I have a strong v6. Thanks for the advice/opinions.

True duals with an x-pipe and a couple Dynomax Bullets would sound great!!! With the duals (and the muffler switch), you'll definately gain a louder and more aggressive exhaust note.

If you're worried about the neighbors, you could y-pipe after the muffler or keep it SI/SO. Just switching from a Magnaflow to a Dynomax Bullet will be enough to let them know you have a V8!

Thanks for the reply. I searched a little more and saw where most said that true duals are ot worth it for a NA truck. I will stay with one SI/SO dynomax until I decide if I am going to do more work on the truck.

I can only speak for the Magnaflow on the F150 (had Dynomax on mustang and they were sweet though) but what size is you Magna muffler? I just switched the size of my muffler and it makes quite a bit of difference. I did not have the problem you are having though as my 18-inch definitely sounded like V8. I wanted it a bit quieter and switched to the 24-inch. You could look into the 14-inch Magna's or the round bodied ones which get real loud. Just a thought. Also I wouldn't bother with the x pipe and all unless you have some internal engine mods and or blower. Whatever you decide on check the muffler size.

myth-if for 1 second my 8500 lb van didn't gain from my exhaust - meaning gain in tq or hp- the oem siso would be back on ina heartbeat-phil

I ran Dynomax Bullets x2, w/ Magnaflow x-pipe, & 2.5" pipe w/ turndowns after the axle it sounded great! Aggressive but, not obnoxious or annoying. It's cheap & sounds as good or better than other options. Just a heads up, Cherry Bomb's glasspacks are a lil' cheaper than the Dyno's & should do the same thing. "Should".
