Cutting off all Cats on a 2005!
Cutting off all Cats on a 2005!
Hey guys, I am new to this forum and Fords in general...
I am thinking of buying a 2005 5.4L Ford, and I would like to know if it is possible to cut off all of the cats, and what options do I have to get rid of the check engine light!
My current truck is a NBS chevy with true duals and no cats, I used 02 sensor simulators.
I have used the search button on a few F150 forums, and I cannot find what to do. The reason I liked my chevy was the LS1 similarities which ensured that there was many after market parts to buy!
p.s. I am not inquiring about the disputed performance aspect of no cats, I am just inquiring how you ford drivers get rid of CEL's with the NBS Fords???
Thank You

i think you have to put new o2 sensors on, thats what makes the CEL when you cut the cats since the o2 sensors are in the second pair of cats (i believe?). without cats its going to be friggin loud inside your truck with that big 5.4 engine. But yes definitly F150>NBS chevy. the chevy has a better engine but as far as suspension, interior, hauling and safety, the F150 has the upper hand.

But if you must do what your talking about you would need the 02 simulators just like you did before.

Yeah, my chevy was loud, and that is how I like it! I am still planning on going cat-less... we don't have emissions in canuckland!
The main reason why I like the Furd is that they are the best riding truck ever. I am serious, you ever notice that on average, most speeding trucks are always NBS fords, and that is because they are great to drive. 70mph in a NBS ford is like 55mph in a NBS chevy(not NNBS)... trust me!
The NBS chebys do have the upper hand with after-market avaiblility. Long-Tube ceramic coated Headers for a NBS chevy are only $370US, and the diablosport tuners have a feature for O2 secondary sensor disable. So this is what I will miss.
p.s. I am going from 4.8L to 5.4L 3V SOHC, so it will be nice!!!
Thanks, I guess I will do more reasearch on O2 sensor simulators! Does anyone know who makes them?, they are alot harder to find now since Caspers got their nuts slapped!
Do you guys know of any flash hand-held tuners for Fords that can delete O2 sencondary sensors?

thats interesting, on my chevy i lost power after putting on true duals, but i gained way more down low and up high after taking off my cats!!!
i am still cutting them off, that is what I want for my truck!

hey man. you might want to rethink cutting off the cats before you end up spending alot of money to get new cats. If you cut your cats off. you will end up sound like a old farm truck. I am not lying either. get high flows but only use two. it will be loud and a cheap way for getting sound.
well, i have no cats on my chevy and it sounds good, where I am from, it's in style to have a truck that snaps...
i am not a big fan of the flowmasters burble!
i know exactly what it will sound like, and that is what I am doing!
