New muffler question

I've got a new F150 with the 4.2L V6 (I wanted a V8 but the only ones the dealer had left were decked out models that were WAY out of my price range). I'm looking for a muffler that won't make the truck REAL loud, just give it a nice low tone and a little growl when I get on it. I'm a little nervous because I've heard some V6's that sounded like absolute crap when the owner installed an aftermarket muffler.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: I'd like to keep the cost of the project under $500 if possible, and that includes what the muffler shop is going to charge for bending and welding.

Talking

I have a 2006 V6 4.2 and have installed 4 different cat back systems on the
V6 you half to be carefull or you will kill the bottom end power, I am very happy now with my Flowmaster 50 delta series 3 camber 3inch cat back 4 inch tip not as lould as the 40 but offers back pressure no interior noise and a nice groul, could be a little louder but runs great with this set up.

deffently happy with this one and the 3" pipe looks meaty

Exaust I tried
Flowmaster 40 3"
Magaflow 18" 2.5" satin stainless #11256
Stock muffler with 3" pipes
current Flowmaster 50 Dlelta series 3" 4" tip

Go with the Magnaflow 14" you will not loose any low end power and the truck will sound better.

Clar, thanks for the advice. Do you have a part number or an internet link to where I can get this kit? The only thing I found on the Flowmaster site for a 2006/2007 F150 says it's for the V-8 engines only...

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3917

Thanks.

do you want 2 tips or 1? buy the muffler off the site, and buy your tip(s). take it to your local shop, and have them bend pipes. it will save you $$$.
