Lose any power??

ok. ill try and make this make sense lol..Will a single dump or dump period make u lose more low end power than if you had a muffler and tips? For example if i were to cut off the exhaust pipe right in FRONT of the muffler will i lose or gain power , or will it not be noticable? ive heard all three, jsut seeing if anyone can clear it up for me.
thanks

Dumping after a muffler and dumping before a muffler both decrease low end power, but you gain more in the top end.
