GMS (Granatelli)

I was looking on the F150Store site, (http://www.f150store.com/Shop/ViewPr...61&SortOrder=1)

and Granatelli offers a total Volant knock-off, BUT includes a new MAF sensor-something nobody promotes, or talks about.

At Granatelli's site, they sell separate MAF sensors for a couple of C-notes.

Does anybody have this intake, and what is your ('take) on the different MAF sensor over stock?

with a different MAF, you need a custom tune for sure. a good intake and maf sensor would be about a 25hp gain I believe.

Built,

Can you elaborate? What does a different MAF do? (Trick the computer?)

Are your numbers in addition to a replacement intake, or from stock?

Can you put too much air on the motor? Or are all problems solved by adding gas (more # injectors, bigger fuel pump, etc)?

I know you have a different throttle body, how does that factor?

MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) converts the amount of air drawn into an engine into an electrical signal which the PCM needs in order to calculate engine load, how much fuel to inject, when to fire the cylinder, etc.

So yeah, you def. need to re-cal your PCM if you go to a larger MAF.

Talking

i believe that the mass air is calibrated for the intake and the pcm to be able to run it without a tune. my experience on the gm ones is that they tend to run lean.

Yea I had the stock maf sensor on and it went out on me, so I used my 90mm lightning maf and had it retuned for my truck, and its just a bigger opening for air. I did pick up a few ponies mostly because its letting more air in. Most aftermarket MAF sensors make your truck run lean without a retune

when you say retune do you just mean getting a handheld programmer like a superchips?

Which MAF?

I have a 04 FX4 5.4 and am considering a Granatelli MAF sensor. I have read some info on it but still know very little about them. Is this one a good one or are there better choices? Will this require retuning and will it help my mpg? I would appreciate any helpful input.
