Hey folks I just got my replacement manifolds yesterday and I was wondering if I should paint them with high temp manifold paint? I just don't want them to get rusty and ugly again, or is that indefinite even with painting?

To paint or not to paint....not really a personal preference, I just want to keep the rust at bay and make that engine look nice.

if you can pant them its better,but personally ive never had any luck with high temp paint on manifolds or headers the paint always seems to meld away but maybe i didnt use the proper temp paint but sure paint them paint will always look better than bare metal onna manifold

I myself have also had no luck painting headers or manifolds.There are alot of new products on the market that could work though.I haven't tried in a few years.Honestly living up there it will rust regardless before long

 

Hey Kevin, yah I talked with my dad and he was like, the reason we ordered new manifolds for the truck was to fix the leak! Noone looks at them anyhow its the truck itself, so they shall remain paintless, cheaper too! I shouldn't see any rust in at least a few years anyways.

 

Ya you should be good for years.Did you buy new manifolds or used??I bet they were close to as much as a set of headers

 

Actually, I was just researching this today. Manifolds are just about half of what a set of steel headers are going for. Ceramic-coated or stainless??? Fuggitaboutit!

I have never priced manifolds but you can get a set of Pacesetter longtube headers for under 500 i think

 

$98 for both manifolds. $10 for gasket set. $133 for hardware studs and nuts from Dealer! lol I was gonna go with some $105 headers from flowtech but I thought that was too good to be true, plus it would have been a circus to install them and them fit ot my exhaust, nope, I stuck with manifolds.

stock manifolds are not much to look at so... wouldnt waste time painting. what u need to do is throw some nice chrome long tube headers in there. i love suggesting how to spend other peoples money.

dont worry , ive wanted soms nice chrome nerf bars for my 97 ever since i bought it last year.its like the mailman knows exactly when i have extra cash and puts the bills in the box that day.
