AF1 Banging

When I hit the lovely holes in the road that I cant avoid without running off the road or scaring the crap out of on coming traffic, my AF1 filter bangs on the heat shield. I was planning on putting a piece of foam or someting on the bottom but I thought I would post to see if any of yous have a better idea or a way to correct this. I didn't install it wrong did I?

Thanks for any suggestions

Did you install the support bar that bolts from the underside of the intake tube to the front of the alternator mount?

In this pic it's the bar running from the right of the radiator hose, angled a bit to the right..

Also make sure that the two studs that secure the heat-shield are securely seated through the rubber grommets that they mate to. A little silicon grease on the grommets will help 'em pop right through..

Yeah, thats all tight, it's the actual air filter that seems to be smacking the bottom of the shield. There's only about 1" if that much space between the two.

Hmm.. that sounds strange then.. it shouldn't be shaking / vibrating like that. I'd give the AF1 folks a phone call and ask what's up.

I thought so too. I've never read anyone having this problem before

Agreed, and there's a lot of room for adjustment with that support bar. Just try moving it up a bit..

Sounds good. I've taken the week off and plan on doing some MAJOR detailing especially in the engine bay. I'll check it out in the morn.
