Yes, mine came with a little black strip similar to the one that goes around the top only smaller and thinner. Mine doesn't butt up against the fenderwall like yours either. Is yours a pre 2004?

Yes, there should be a little black rubber/ Weather Strip looking piece that goes around the hole where the intake tube goes into the heatshield. You may wanna push that filter onto the tube a little more once you get that rubber piece.

Here's a pic of my 3" AF1 installed on my '05 4.6L.. and yeah, you should have the rubber liner there. Mine doesn't quite reach the wheelwell hole, I don't think they're supposed to..

Yeah mine came with one. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it fell off already. The thing was so loose that when I nudged it with my fingure, I knocked some of the stipping off.

The white? LOL, yeah I left it on. The instructions didn't say anything about peeling it off, tho it's obvious that it's something that WOULD peel right off. So I've left it on. It still hasn't bubbled, peeled or anything on it's own after close to 2k miles.
Is there a reason I should remove it?

Ok, wait.. LOL.. the shield WAS covered with a clear sheet of film when I got it, and yes that was removed.

Exclamation Throttle Body cover

Are you not able to put the Throttle Body Cover back on after install? All the pictures I have seen do not have it, just curious.

You should have the little black stripping around the hole, you probbably need to push that filter back farther on the tube, that will help to shield heat from the element.
