Exhaust/Upgrades Questions
Exhaust/Upgrades Questions
I have a 2000 Ford F-150 Extended Cab and I'm thinking about doing some upgrades to it. I've been doing a little research and did a little talking with some friends but I'm still pretty much clueless when it comes to trucks. I want dual exhaust but have no idea what's good or how much it should cost. I was looking at getting a superchip, thought about air intake, new headlights and tailights.
Does anyone have any information that'll be useful, like what to get and not to get?

There are alot of usefull threads in the forums here.Take the time and read them.Everyone here will be happy to give you advice but in the end it's you paying for the goods.Take a look at www.troyerperformance.com.I just ordered a stage 1 package from them and they will answer all your questions.
Welcome to the forum T Kon!
I agree with what CHARB says, look at the packages that Troyer Perfomance has to offer. Tuner, intake, exhuast all in one package plus you'll get a discount just by being a member of this site. I wish I'd known this before I started modding my truck!
Can't help ya as far lights, etc., I haven't gotten that far yet, just look futher down the list of rooms here though, they discuss those things in depth.

si/do ( single in / dual out ) are the most affordablew and loudest style exhausts. true duals are the most clear sounding & deepest sounding exhaust style. but is more expensive since each manifold is running its owm pipes & muffler. The most provent power & gas mileage improvements have mostly came from Magnaflow si/do systems though.

Magnaflow is my choice.
If you want loud check out the IMCO (now cherry bomb?) Extreme muffler. It is a si/do muffler. It sounds awsome. I got it on my 97 with the 4.6 v8 and it was louder and deeper then my buddies 2000 5.4 v8 with glasspacks. He ended up taking out the glass packs and getting the same muffler.

ya but i love that the 14" magnaflow gives ~15hp gains to the wheels. but if its not gonna sound good or be decently loud then id rather get the flowmaster super44, which i know sounds great.

The choice between Magnaflow and Flowmaster is this;
Flowmaster = nice loud sounds but a loss of torque (it's not a straight-through design).
Magnaflow = nice sound, maybe not as loud as flows, but no torque loss. Should see improved mpg too.
