which exhaust system for my 04??

im deciding between doing a true dual system with an H-pipe and two flowmaster super44s or just doing a SIDO with just one super44. i want it to be pretty loud at idle and accelerating but not crackily. im also going to be getting an air intake system and edge tuner so i want to get good performance out of this system. which one should i get? also i do alot of highway driving so will either of these setups give me a headache after a long trip?

the SI/DO system miught be better for you, performance wise, however the true duals will sound better, so its kinda a tough call. Since you have an '04 you must have the original 4 cat setup, maybe look into gutting the pre-cats, that will increase your sound more because all they are doing is quieting you down.

ya i have one of the first 04s that came off the assembly line so i probably have the 4 cat setup. so if i cut off the 2 cats and put the sido system, it'll be pretty loud and give good performace? so do i cut the front cats or rear cats and what cost should i be looking for when getting the sido with two rear tips?

yeah the front smaller ones are what you wanna gut. If you buy the siui/do exhaust online and you take it down to get installed, maybe a little under $200 will install it. If your just providing them a muffler and want them to custoim bend pipes, $300 - $400 or so, maybe another hundred for stainless tips.

ya i think im just going to order the muffler and tips online for around 200, then just take it in and have them pipe it and remove the cats. i think im going to get the new flowmaster super44 muffler. and with the intake and edge tuner i should hopefully be seeing some decent performance gains.

EDIT: do you know if its legal to remove those little cats in california?

A custom shop MIGHT gut/remove cats for you, depends on the shop, no Midas / Meineke, etc. will do it. It's illegal to mess with the cats, especially in CA, not to say you can't do it yourself. Just that most shops will not touch 'em other than to replace a defective cat. Emissions laws and all that good stuff.

well i can definitely remove them myself. but if do take off those little cats is it going to be noticeably louder to the point where they will pull me over for it and bust me for emissions? i also do a lot of highway driving for hunting and 5 hour trips to the ranch. will it give me headaches without those cats?

yeah go with the Super 44, thats a great muffler

and gutting the precats only increases ur sound a little, not a whole lot, it allows for better exhaust flow and sound flow, maybe 20% louder. So it will just help you sound 20% better
