Would dual exhaust out the same side sound good as dual straight out the back?

I have a '97 F-150 with the 4.6.

I've been reading these post and I think I'm getting a magnaflow muffler.

I just ordered two Magnaflow High-Flow Cats. - So that's where I'm starting.

I'm a fan of exhaust that sounds good and throaty when idling, but not loud and obnoxious all the time. Maybe when I put the pedal down.

3 Questions:

1- If I got the SI/SO Muffler would it sound deeper and more powerful. Enough to satisfy a subtle sound difference.

2- If I got the SI/DO would it sound much different than the SI/SO?
Would it sound alright if I had them both coming out the same side in front of the rear wheel?

3- Are there different series/models of the Magnaflow? I love the sound of 5.0 mustangs. Flow 40 series would be great but DO NOT want drone!

I wouldn't mind duals straight out the back except I just backed my buddy's duals into a ditch and messed up some stuff all the way to the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for help on subject that's beat into the ground.

a 40 series dual side exit will drone unless you have a tuner,

I am getting ready to sell my current flowmaster set up and install long tubes, high flow cats and a magnaflow 3" SI/SO muffler to the same type of exit. the only reason is because we've got a little on the way and I do not want the baby subject to any needless noise after he/she is born. Flowmasters sound better and magnaflow is quieter. IMO if you want a rumble from idle and up get a flowmaster and split it to one tip per side behind the rear wheels...

I have the Magnaflow 16616 cat back system for 04 and up models. It's SI/DO side exit before tires and it sound like just what your looking for. There is no drone at all at any RPM's, it's nice and quiet when cruising, if I turn my radio up a bit I can barely hear the exhaust. The thing comes to life though when you put your foot down, it's nice powerful sounding. It also has a nice low rumble when idling, I love it.

Keep in mind though I have a 2007 F-150 with the 5.4L 3V engine.
