Oxygen Sensor Replacement Tips
Oxygen Sensor Replacement Tips
I've got about 94k on my 01 4x4 5.4 Supercrew. Can't afford a new 250 so I'm fixing up my baby. I bought 4 new O2 sensors. The back right came out easy using an adjustable wrench. The other 3 however are not so easily reached.
Any help and tips or tricks would be appreciated. I didn't know how valuable buying an O2 sensor socket might be, so I thought I'd post to the experts before I continued.
Thanks,
Bob

just replaced my front 2 last week. soak then with pb blaster ,give it a few mins. spend the extra 5-10$ for the special socket. passenger side was easy. take off the inner splash shield and use the socket. u might have to use a open end i couldnt get the ratchet on it was a 1" open if i recall.driver side is lots of fun.i had to get it from underneath. need alot of extensions. u can try vice grips but you dont want to round it off.i had with the socket and the 1" open end. hard to get leverage on that one.u have 4wd??i stuck the wrench between the driveshaft and cat heat shield. longer the wrench the better. put the socket on.. hit the wrench with a hammer. have to keep doing that. real pain. definitely use one of those ratcheting box ends if u have one, i didnt have one so... i caution against the vice grips because if you round them off and they still wont come out?
