Banks Monster Exhaust
Banks Monster Exhaust
Hey guys, how's it going? I'm new to the forum but have been checking it out for a few days and have found some very useful information. I'm hoping someone can help me out.
Does any have the Banks Monster Dual Exhaust on a 5.4? I just bought a new 07 and I'm looking for a good sounding exhaust as well one that will improve air flow and some mileage.
Thanks everyone!!

I think those Banks systems are really only designed for motor homes and such??? In other words, engines that have a heavy GCW on them all the time... You can have a V10 MH that grosses out at over 20k and a 'Monster' exhaust setup would be ideal for that.... But, for your daily driver, #5000 truck??? Might be a bit of overkill and you don't need the same kind of power like a MH does...
Since the 5.4 also can be had in an F350, then it might make a little more sense as well, because that F350 is going to weigh some #7000 all by itself...
Basically, IMO, you need to decide 'where' you want the power to come in for your needs.... A 4" exhaust on a gas powered truck is going to basically '$uck' on the low end side of life... It'll do pretty good in the >3500 rpm range however...
I found that a nice 3" cat back single exhaust setup is a good overall compromise in a #5000 truck that sees some towing from time to time.... It ain't no street racer by any means, but it gets out of the hole better now then it did with the stock exhaust....

I think we may be talking two seperate things. banks makes a monster dual for an 04-07 f150. it consists of 3" pipe from cat back and 3.5" tips.
Is this the same you were talking about?

LOL... No.. I've only seen the "Monster" exhaust advertised in the 4x4 mag and the RV mag I get (for the diesels and V10's and Chevy's 8.1 V8).
A 3" 'dual' setup is kinda 'big', so you might want to consider what power range it's dealing with... In my mind, it's only going to take advantage of the 'monster' pipes in the higher rpm range... If that's what you need, great, but my guess is that you also need some low end grunt as well??
I have heard 'good' things about Banks systems as a whole. It's a complete 'engineered' system, so to get the most out of it, you need to get the entire package deal... (intake, headers, muffler, pipe, tuner), but again, this has only been on the "RV" side of life, so your mileage may vary!!

yeah that's why i'm questioning. I too have only seen the banks on diesels and knew they manufactured a nice product. It just kind of sparked my interest when i saw they made one for the f150's as well and i was just curious to see if anybody had it.
It appears the the big seller for a 150 is roush and borla. I'm in the market right now so I'm just researching the different types.
Or tell me this am I wasting my time searching for a bolt on system? SHould i just purchase some mufflers and have the pipes custom run? <- this is what I've always done but i just recently had a 250 with mbrp 4" duals on it that I really liked. I sold that truck due to problems the 6.0 kept giving me and went back with a 150 and figured i'd look for a bolt on for it as well.

Get the Banks Monster single exhaust. It's a 3" exhaust up until after the muffler. After the muffler you get a 3.5" tailpipe with a pretty cool looking oval tip. The best sounding exhaust system for these trucks, in my opinion. But, I could be a little biased as I have it. The Banks has a deeper tone than the Magnaflow and Flowmaster. Get the single Monster Exhaust and you will be extremely happy.
