$100 this $200 that for the love of all things Ford! Have you not heard of the Gotts intake. A modification to the STOCK intake that does everything any of us could hope for!!! The only thing it does not do is suck the $$$ straight from your wallet!!! $15.00 bucks and my 2 and a half inch intake went to 3" with an AEM DRY FLOW PERFORMANCE FILTER!!!!! 15 MPG's to 16.5 on AVERAGE. Spent more on the dam filter that fits the stock box then anything else. Folks, these forums are to help one another not to judge. If one has more money then brains then so be it.

do you have the 5.4 3valve engine? I put that mod on yesterday and took it off today because everyone says the 3 valve runs too lean....

I installed the K&N CAI on my truck after I installed the magnaflow exhaust and noticed an immediate drop in mpg. Dropped about 4-5 mpg. Couldn't justify spending another $600+ for a programmer and tune to get the mpg back. It would take several years to offset all that cost for just a little power that is not that noticeable. If you like the sound of deep throat, go for it. That's 'bout all it's worth. For as I'm concerned, it's something a kid would want to have a truck that sounded bigger than it really is. If you want power, get a bigger truck. That's what I'm going to do. I took my CAI off after a full tank of gas. SUCKED "literally".

Exactly....

I guess that I should have noted my sarcasm.

Volant Intake: Waste of money, but makes the engine roar (WooHoo Sarcasm). Can I get a refund?

Flowmaster Duals: I like the redneck music it creates. Have done it on three vehicle in the past 10 years. Power increase? Hell if I know, it sounds cool.

Xcal3 w/Troyer custom tunes: Best mod ever...my truck can actually pass somebody.

Now ya know how I feel about the 12-13 hundred that I spent. If I was to do it all over, the Volant money would have went with my Extang money to get a hard top.

especially considering one of the single biggest motivating factors for engineers is co$t...

I just got the Banks Ram Air today will be installing it today. So I understand the 08 5.4 3valve runs lean? How will I know and what is the long term risk of running lean?
