Exhaust and Magnaflow Questions.

I have a 2005 FX4 truck and just added a Edge. Im now wanting to add a Magnaflow Muffer thinking SIDO. Can someone tell me the part# for both the 18" and 24". Im thinking of going to the 24". Also ive heard of people talking about a magnaflow maggie? Please explain? Is it differant from just the regular magnaflow muffler?

Next question, when they install the new muffer do they just cut the old muffler out replace it with the magnaflow and run new pipe the rest of the way back? Also I which is prefered 2.25 or 2.50 from the muffer back?

Lets just say I want to replace the muffler only I think the part# is 12286 for the 24". How much sound differance will there be if I ran SIDO from the muffler back? I guess Im asking is the duel pipe sound from the muffler back worth the extra $$?

Ive been reading around and.... is it much noiser if I run the exhaust right in front of the rear wheels compared to behind the rear tire?

Ive always liked them running stright out the back but after seeing some pics like the duels comeing out together out on the same side. Also curious how much sound differance if any if I do splitting them one behind each tire ect??

Thanks!!

I called a couple local muffler shops and was asking alot of these same questions regarding my new 07. The one shop that seemed to have the most knowledge said that you get the best results if you do the whole catback system. Supposedly you get a little louder sound if you go SIDO with dual pipes as opposed to just doing SISO but there is no difference in performance.

Something about the backpressure and just replacing the muffler with the stock pipes was mentioned as not being optimal. Course I'm as much of a newb regarding this stuff as yourself and they could've just been trying to upsell me, but compared to the other shops I called they seemed genuine.

It doesn't appear that Magnaflow sells a catback system that allows SIDO with the tailpipes coming out on each side behind the tire, only straight out the back, which I wasn't really excited about. I've seen what exhaust does to painted bumpers like mine after about a year or so of running straight out the back.

Hope that helps.

if you run si/do then you have to replace the whole system. i have the 18 and its a pretty nice low rumble, quiet at idle, sounds good on startup and when you get on it, but its still not quite loud enough for me so im gonna get the 14 and maybe get 4 " tips as well. and as far as "maggie" goes, its just slang for magnaflow. cheers
