Magnaflow tip / trim question
Magnaflow tip / trim question
I'm not sure if all of their cat back systems are the same or not, but on my SISO the 3" pipe comes almost all the way to the outlet end of my 4" tip.
I know that tip diameter makes a noticeable difference on how deep the exhaust note is but I can't imagine this one actually making any difference at all in that regard because of the current setup.
Has anyone tried cutting the extra pipe back about 6 or 8 inches inside the tip and if so, did it change the sound any? Enough to make the hassle worth it?
I would have to find a small enough cut off wheel to fit up in there and get the job done.

Magnaflow?
I've seen pics of quite a few of them on here that look just like mine.
I assume they are left like that to cut out some time and $ trying to custom flush fit the tips on all of them.
Plus or minus 6 or 8 inches is a heck of a lot easier to hold than dead on.
Maybe they're not and some of us just got screwed up units.

Hmm.. could be I suppose.
I figure that after an extended driving session, there's probably not much difference in the temperature between the tip and the pipe itself though.
My tip has already taken on a brownish hue that won't polish completely out.
I always thought that ss would be the ultimate material for exhaust tips and nerf bars but now that I have both, I have come to the conclusion that it's hard to beat good ol' chrome.
