New Muffler

Ok, So I plan on chopping off the stock muffler first, driving it for a week then putting on a new muffler. I heard good and bad things about the flowmaster 40 and its cheap so not sure whether or not to go with that, I want it to be loud but the real question is what will I need to chop off my old muffler assuming I have to chop it off besides a saw. Is it much harder than it sounds? is it hard installing the new one also? I have access to a welder and basically everything you need. Any input will greatly be appreciated
thanks

EDIT: I have a 2002 F150 Supercrew XLT 5.4

I have read on here that the Flowmasters rob low end torque. I opted for the MagnaFlow because of that. I have an 06 4.6L Screw so I dont need any LESS power.

Do you have to saw the old muffler off? Have you looked under. Some mufflers I believe are remove & replace with clamps. Well the back end may have to be cut.

I put a cat-back 16614 system on mine and I just used 2 sockets and unbolted a few hangers and I was set. The factory was a clamp on and I figured that was good enough as long as it was secure. I know welding is MUCH better and if you have it, do it once everything is where you want it to be. I will check it after a month with some heating and cooling cycles under its belt onthe clamps then decided if I want to go ahead and pay for a weld.

Muffler choice is totally up to you. I'm not a big fan of slowmasters but it's your truck. I also opted for a Magnaflow muffler. If your gonna drive it around fo a week without a muffler you might as well just order whatever muffler you want and get it installed after you get it. Notice the power loss you get when you don't have a muffler on there and then once you get the new one on there it's great. I ordered mine from "performancepeddler.com". I've seen it everywhere on here and it is a great place to get your new muffler. Just pick the one you want send in a really low quote and they send you back their lowest price. Anymore questions just ask.

From what I have read, the Magnaflow is the only exhaust that doesn't cause a loss in low end torque.

Ok, I think I might be going with the cherry bomb extreme, but one last question, what are the sizes I need for the new muffler? Thanks

2.5" inlet & outlet. That's all you need to know for pipe size. Whatever length you want is up to you.

sure you could clamp it up, weld is more secure and less chance of leaks, but band clamps will do you good

I say go with Flowmaster they sound so good, but thats just me, I love the deep aggressive tone they give. Dynomax is a good brand too my buddy has a dumped dynomax bullet on his '03 4.6L & damn that truck sounds great.

If I remember correctly Cherry Bomb bough Imco and the Cherry Bomb extreme is just like the Imco extreme. So eather one will give you the same results,BTW both are a copy of the 10 series flowmaster much louder and more aggressive than the 40.
I have had several different set ups on my truck. Even the all mighty Magnaflow, if you want it loud the mag is not the way to go, and to tell you the truth my current set up feels just as strong as my mag and I have straights. No matter what you go with there wont be much of a difference, as they are all better than stock.
I will list my setups and what I thought in order from quiet to LOUD.(Keep in mind I have 2 less cats)

Magnaflow 14" SI/DO Out Back Deep rummbly good tone, with no cab noise and a medium sound output. Muffler around $100

Flowmaster 40 SI/Do Out Back Deep fairly aggressive tone, slight cabin noise and little bit louder than the mag. Muffler around $60

Imco Extreme SI/DO Out Back/And later Dumbed Deep very aggressive tone, loud in the cab and out. Muffler around $45

True duals straights with X-Pipe Lightning style Very Deep and the Most aggressive tone off all, Very loud in the cab at anything above 2000 rpm and Very Very loud outside at anything above Idle. Give you an Idea I reved it up to about 3000 at my house and set my neighbors car alarm off and the car was about 15 yards away. All installed $225
