Calling the Turd Burglar

Hey Bill,

I was looking at your sig, and noticed you had the Volant CAI. How do you like it? Did you notice a differance when you installed it and can you feel the increase in horsepower? Im wanting to gat a CAI system, just not sure which one to go with. Im also going to post this under Aftermarket in Exhaust and Intake Syatems

Heath, I like the Volant CAI for this application. I also put a Volant CAI on Tricia's PT Cruiser and that one has a design flaw. The filter mounts to a plastic tube that is slightly funnel shaped and it allows the filter to eventually slip back & loosen making the air filter basically useless. So I'm constantly (like 2x month or more) repositioning and tightening HER air filter.

I did not notice any difference after installation on my truck, other than it sounds almost like there's a big hungry 4 barrel under the hood. That's a good thing in my book. With that 5.4L & my heavy foot though it would have taken a significant increase for me to be able to tell I think. I also did NOT notice ANY change in gas mileage.

In the PT cruiser there was slightly noticeable bit more pep. The PT is a 2001 2.4L auto & until you get the RPMs up it's a dog. The CAI did help a bit there.

I so-o-o wanted to use turd burglar as my login/screen name but it's really hard to get people to take me serious. It caused me enough problems when playing Delta Force online...

Ya im really thinking about going with the same application. I was looking aound at prices, and they seem reasonable. Where did you get yours?

Hopefully ill feel a change when I get done. Im going to get Gibson Long Tube headers, and some maggie mufflers and throw under there. I was thinking about high flow cats, thats if I dont just taking them off completely.

And about turd burglar, if you noticed no one posted anything in this thread. Either they did it out of respect since I called you out, or they were like, " that mother is calling for a turd burglar"

not taken to serious, god choice with txarsoncop!!!

Heath, are you talking about these?

I don't see any on the Gibson site that I'd call "long tube," those look like equal length shorty headers.

I'd like to do headers, high flow cats and new side exit exhaust. Don't know if that'll happen this year though, got too many other "projects" going on and toys I want to buy.

Can't remember where I bought the Volant, will have to check when I get off duty.

I've noticed this thread is getting a fair amount of views... they've got to be wondering about the turd burglar. Burgling turds isn't all fun and games, you gotta watch out for those stampedes!

A guy with a lightning has these, they are Kooks but i couldnt find them either. He also had some sound clips, which sounded really mean!!!! The thread is under this same colum its called: Questing about headers
