I just installed an Airade TBS on my 4.6. As I initially put it in gear and step on the gas it sounds like a cat getting skinned under my hood. When removed, everything was back to normal. Is this thing suppose to sound this awful? I notice an immediate gain in torque, but I just can't stand that annoyance! The same product installed on a 5.4 sounds a lot better...maybe I should just come to terms that my 4.6 sucks.

 

Yes,that is the sound your engine makes w/ the spacer in it.Just about eveyone who has installed one removes it just as quickly when they hear that awful sucking sound,especially if you have an aftermarket cai.I even had the spirals machined out at work and it still made the noise.I say leave it off,there are many other mods you can do to make up any lose in performance by leaving the spacer out.
