magnaflow cats

has anybody in california replaced your stock cats with the high flows by magnaflow, if so did you have any troubles with the OBDII throwing a CEL. i know that they are advetised as C.A.R.B approved but nowhere on the discription does it mention if they are OBDII compliant. does anyone in cali know what the exact legality is here or will i fail a visual inspection if i am ever subjected to one or will i fail an smog check as well.

I think as long as your replacing the system with a CARB approved one you should be fine. However, replacing cats that aren't defective, damaged or failed is illegal. I'm sure this sort of thing hasn't stopped many people, but it is something to consider.

magnaflow has 2 types of cats, one that is 49 state approved and the other one is approved for california.

IF your vehicle is over 5yrs or 80,000 miles you are allowed to change the cats as long as you replace them with an approved model.

No it will not throw a CEL, as long as they are installed with the O2's
