Removing stock exhaust?

I'm getting ready to install a Cat-Back system on my 1999 F150. What is the best way to seperate the two pipes in front of the muffler? Do I need to cut old system to get it removed? Thanks, Mark

Yes you will probably have to cut it!

What works best to seperate the exhaust at the joint? The new exhaust needs to slip over or into the old pipe so I know I can't cut it there.

well you can cut it and get a band style clamp. Or you can remove the clamp thats around the slip joint just behind the Y pipe, and you can use your jack to help push the pipe out b.c it is in there pretty good. Try and get the jack to push off the cross member, and push inline with the exaust, you should be able to get it to snag on part of the bracket or clamp or something. Also take off atleast the nearest hanger to the Y pipe joint.
