maganaflow question

should all of the connections in the exhaust setup be welded together and not just clamped? my buddy seems to think they should be but im pretty sure its just clamps holding everthing together cept the tips which are welded. is there a big difference in sound and performance if they are?

Welded connection is best, IMO. However, the magnaflow and OE cat back system are bolted connections. I was going to get mine welded, if i could not correct a leaky connection. Turns out I did not have the clamp in the proper place.

What is the "proper place" for the clamp? I installed my 16612 last week, purchased the SS band clamps to use instead of what came with the kit. I have the clamps overlapping the joing just a bit, wondering if that is best or if the clamp should be flush with the outside pipe?

On my 98 I had it welded. They bolted it to the cat, but welded the rest. I think it's just cleaner, and reduces the (small) chance of theft.
