What Cats can i cut off.

What Cats can i cut off.

Ive been hearing people talk about cutting the pre cats off and they dont throw codes. can somebody please tell me which cats are my pre cats. thanks in advance.

You can gut the first cat out of each side. Also known as the pre cat. Its at a little bit of an angle compared to the other one. Remove the whole Y pipe/cats assy right off the exaust manifolds, and do whatever you can to break everything out of the first cat housing. I cut a small window in the side of mine after removing the heat sheilding.

ok but i have one question why couldnt you just cut it off it seems like it would do the same thing.

You can cut it off and repace it with pipe.
You can gut it.
You can gut it then run a pipe thru it.

Some states have visual smog inspections. If they see items are missing, you fail. Gutting it (or running a pipe thru it) makes it look like it's still there.
