Magnaflow replacement muffler

I am looking for just a replacement muffler for my 03 150 supercrew 5.4(2wd). I am not looking for any noise, just performance improvements. I just installed a K&N and the local shop said to install a magnaflow with it to get its full potential. Would just replacing the stock muffler out with the magnaflow make a difference? What series or size do I need to get that performance without all the noise?

I have a 2005 F150 with the 5.4 (same engine that you have in your 03) and I just did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I replaced the factory air filter with just a K&N drop-in filter and changed out the muffler only with a Magnaflow. I went with a 22" long oval muffler since the longer mufflers produce less interior and exterior noise. I did not want anything that would wake the neighbors or produce droning in the cab since I drive on the freeway alot. This muffler is perfect. It now sounds like a V8 at idle and when you get down on it but is as quiet as a mouse on the freeway. My wife has not even noticed the change yet and I will not tell her unless she asks about it. I have noticed a very slight increase in MPG on the freeway and a little better throttle response. You will not be disappointed in the Magnaflow. When I was a little younger I had Flowmasters and Super Turbos on several different vehicles and this Magnaflow is in a league of it's own. It is more for the grown-up that just wants to have a little rumble so that people know you have a V8.

I'm looking at the 14250. It should be about the quietest you can get in a Magnaflow.
I "made an offer" to performancepeddler.com on eBay, but no word back yet from them. Maybe I offered too low .

Actually Per.Peddler counter offered at $97 shipped for a 14250. Is that a fair price??

When I bought mine from Performance Peddler on Ebay I went ahead and went to the Magnaflow web site and registered it for the warranty. I did not have any problems doing so...........I don't understand why they would not warranty their product.

Yeah, I never really understood the symantics of that warranty stuff either.. I think the main reason they do it is to keep purchases through "authorized dealers" so they can regulate their pricing, and keep tabs on everything, and give their dealers incentives, etc.. But still, your product is your product, right? Just because you bought it $50 cheaper somewhere else doesn't mean they shouldn't take care of a problem with something they made.

I know there is a sound difference. But is there any performance differences in say a 4x9x18 and a 5x11x22?

There is no performance difference. They are both straight through design.
