my 2001 5.4 Screw has 80k on it. just got an edge 2100 (set to 1) and thinking it is time for a new air cleaner. should i... get a cold air intake? I just drive my truck here and there.... only get on it when i am running late or might for a little fue (once in 6 months). I do tow a boat in the summer some but not much more then 30 miles 2 or 3 times.

Stock, 4wd, 3.55, 255/70/16, edge set to 1, GREAT SYSTEM!, bed soft cover.

Goals....
I just want to get a little better MPG (avg on edge around 14.9 with normal to and from work and around town, have not drove on HW for a long trip since installing). my plan is to keep the truck till 200K miles so could be mine for 5-10 more years.

it is time to replace the stock style air filter and was thinking about an up grade.

an intake would help but search around here and see what people have said about the various brands. Some people think the sound is too noisy when towing, try to get a hold of them or just gather what you can from searching the forum. good luck

 

I went with Air Force 1 intake and I love it.. I don't think an intake by itself will gain you any mpg, though with your tuner it might (I don't have a tuner yet ) .. I did gain 1.8 mpg highway when I put on a cat-back tho.. by itself the intake is gonna get you some higher end hp and a little torque.. Hopw that helps

 

Brett,just a little tip set your edge to level2 and you will prob see an increase in mileage as well as power.I run level2 w/89 gas w/ AF1 and am getting 18.2mpg with the same truck as you except mine is Supercab.
