Just installed Mag 16612 - question

Install was relatively easy, even for a novice like me - thanks to all for the advice, pictures, etc found here! Love the improved sound of the Mag!

My question - the tailpipe has a bit of a downward pitch to it, maybe 1.5" or so. Doesnt look bad at all as is, but wondering if it should be closer to horizontal level at the exit? I'd hate to unbolt it all to try to level up if that's not the way it should be.

Thanks!

This is how mine looks. What is the orientation of your muffler as it will affect how it hangs.

Once I changed the muffler orientation to vertical (which is how MagnaFlow told me it goes) the tail pipe slanted down slightly. I have pics in my gallery of before and after.

Here are a couple pics I just took. I think the tip is oriented right as far as sticking out, etc. Just wondering if it should be more level. Let me know your thoughts, and if it should be more level, how I might accomplish that.

I also took a picture of the muffler itself to show how its oriented. Think its right though. Thanks!

That's how I have mine orientated also and you can see how it sits. I did go back under mine after a week and readjusted a little bit. You may want to try that.

Zig - do you think it slants downward too much? Comparing the picture of mine to yours, looks like yours almost touches the bottom of the fender. I'd like mine to be closer to that.

I think I'll try to adjust it a bit tonight. Cant hurt anything by trying.

Thanks!

I have mine almost touching the fender, just a little more than a finger between the two. If you loosen the end piece you should be able to rotate it to have it a bit closer. That may help with the slant too but I don't think it looks too bad. This is how mine looked after I first installed it. You'll see it had more of a slant then I also rotated the muffler to the orientation you have now and that pulled it in to where it is now.

I messed around with it a bit last night, ended up turning the muffler vertical as kd4crs had done. Seemed to help bring it up a bit and move it forward some, but still has some slant to it. Maybe about 1.5" to 1.75" space between the fender and tip. Dont think it looks bad now, but may try to adjust the end piece a bit more.

One additional question, any reason why I should not leave the muffler vertical? kd4crs - any problem with yours?

Thanks guys!

When I turned the muffler vertical it made my tip go to the correct location and it straightened out the last hanger on the tail pipe that was twisted at an angle before. My tip has a slight drop to it, about 1 to 1.5 inches. I like the drop because it keeps moisture from collecting or standing in the pipe or tip and causing it to rust or corrode. I haven't had any problem since I turned it vertical.

I just finished mine a few hours ago. I put the muffler verticle first, but before I tightened everything, I swung it horizontally to see which was better. In my case the hangers and the tailpipe position looked perfect in the horizontal possition. What kind of clamps did you use? they look like 2" wide band clamps. They didn't come with the system.

I used EasySeal 3" band clamps bought from Napa Auto parts. They seal and look better than the u-bolt style clamps.

I also used the band clamps from Napa. Seemed to seal things pretty well.

After driving the truck for the long weekend and getting a couple compliments on the sound/looks, think I'm happy with the way it sits.

Thanks for the help!
