Question Off-Roaders Choice of Intake

It's time to start getting serious with the truck. I had a 12.3 sec TA before this and so I definately am hurting when it comes to the loud pedal. Its no slouch, but its no rocket either. But then again, if I wanted a road rocket I wouldn't have bought a truck. I tend to stray from the beaten path every now and again and do need a bit of pep in the step.

So, for you bigtime off-road guys, what intake seems to be working for you on the 5.4L. I don't want a completely open intake, that would be kinda dumb when running through high water and mudholes. Opinions and knowledge please! I've been eyeing the S&B intake, looks solid and have read fair things about it. But let's hear it from yous guys' trials. Thanks.

i also have a open K&N but i mad a custom heat sheild mud gaurd that goes along the bottom, also before i go offroading i throw an outer filter on the K&N, this keeps any water mud and larger stuff from clogging up my filter
