perfect fit muffler?

I am considering getting a louder muffler for my 07 fx4 scab 5.4L...I was just curious as to whether or not there was something that would just bolt right up to the factory pipes. I mean something that I could bolt on, then if I got tired of it, just unbolt it and stick the stock muffler right back on.

Are the factory mufflers welded or clamped on?

The first problem you'll have is the size of the factory mufflers.....they are huge!! To put in any aftermarket muffler you'll need to add some pipping or remove the tail pipe from the muffler on back.

I bought 2 18" Pieces of 2.5" pipe flared on 1 side and a Dynomax #17732. I had to cut 3" off one of the pieces of pipe but otherwise it "bolted up". The whole project took me 2 hrs and I now have an exhaust that i can hear

I put the Magnaflow Lightning side exhaust on my '04. Bolted right up. Yes, the stock system bolts together after the cats. You can get the whole cat-back set-up off intact. I did it and it's now hanging in the rafters of the garage like a trophy.....

Even better. I'm thinking I may go the dynomax route. I mean when I rev my engine now, I can barely hear it...that's sad for such a beast of an engine. Although I might get annoyed if it's too loud on the highway. Either way I think I'd wait until 1,000 miles or so just to make sure I don't screw anything up in the engine in case it's not broken in yet.
