Exhaust ?

I been reading all over these forums and i can't seem to answer my question. I have a 2004 f-150 Reg. Cab XL 4.6L. I want to have a pretty loud and low rumbling exhaust. From what i've read the super 40's sound like the way to go. Do i need to replace everything from the cat-back or can i just buy a muffler and a tip. I really want two 3 inch tips out the back of my truck. So i would have to buy the 1-2 muffler and the pipes to run to the back. I really just dont know much about this and i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. If you know any websites with the parts i need and prices it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure most people on here running the flowmaster 40 SI/DO with 3" pipes got their work done at a local muffler shop. They will have all the pipes you need, Tips and the muffler, and will be able to weld everything on there for you. I paid $380 for that setup, but you can find it anywhere from $300-$400 depending on the shop. If you wante to buy it yourself, check out summit. They have the 40 series for like $75 or a complete flowmaster exhaust system for $389. ( part # flo-17417). For a little more sound coming out check into manual-cutouts, there cheap ( $28) from summit and they add some nice low rumble and at WOT it sounds amazing. Hope this helps man and good luck.

I just ordered my muffler from performancepeddler.com and my tips from fle-online.com. You can use the discount code ebay2e to save some money at performance peddler. I have an 05 4.6L and ordered a Magnaflow si/do for $66 and got 2 Magnaflow tips for $36. These sites have Flowmaster, I would check there.

yeah Super 40 si/do setup would be good, 2.5" in/out would be good, & exiting with 3.5" tips, will sound very good

Flowmaster, almost all Meineke or Midas shops will stock most models.. any performance shop will either stock or order whatever you want.. best bet is to research every brand you can think of and order it yourself and if you can't install it no one should charge more than $60 unless there's custom bending involved. I bought a Borla cat-back si/so from autopartswarehouse.com number 1 because I like the borla rumble, 2 because it was $100 cheaper than Borla's site.. installed it myself in a little over an hour and I could not be happier.. and I "think" i can feel a little more pickup off the line, but I KNOW that it improved my mpg by 1.8 on the highway..
