AF1 Question
AF1 Question
Hello. I just today installed a AF1 intake in my truck. Unfortunately, I got a CEL. I think it may be due to a harness I left unplugged. Two questions: is it harmful to the engine to drive like this, and two, I think it is the air temp probe, and I cant seem for the life of me to be able to get it in its grommet. Any tips, guys?
It sounds like your refering to the inlet air temperature sensor/probe. YES, you need to install it into the intake tube. You can use a little WD40 or some other means of lubrication to get it into the gromet. But you must do it..
I installed several on the 5.4 2Vs (pre 2004) and they can be stubborn, but it will fit. Keep after it....Don't drive without it......The PCM reads the inlet air temperature and reacts by adjusting the fuel and etc.....gotta have it in there....

Ok... Unfortunately, I had to drive to work today at 4:30 am, so I couldn't fix it in the dark.
However, I just got back and am going to fix it right now. Hope everything will be ok.

I got it all done and put back together...
I really enjoy the extra performance/sound! Sadly, I nicked up the tubing a little. Anyone know any polishes/products to minimize that? Anyway, I somehow managed to lose a bolt to the throttle body housing in the process; I need a new one. I already tried to look for a replacement at work (Lowe's) but couldn't find an exact replacement. Do you guys think a Ford dealership would have them in stock, or should I just look in the junkyard? I'm just not the kind of person to leave a hole unmounted where it should be.
