02 simulators & catless down tubes

Hi, I'm new here. Have any of you guys ever removed the cats all together? If so does it throw codes on like other Ford cars? I am considering removing mine all together. My truck is a 2000 with the 5.4. I would like to find down tubes, from the exhaust manifolds, without the cats. Anyone else done this? I wonder if I could use aftermarket pieces from a lighting?

Thanks, Doug

I don't have the money for headers and high flow cats right now. The system that is on it right now is true dual with glasspacks and the entire system is so rusted it is leaking all over the place. When I try to weld it up, it's just paper thin and burns right through. My options are 1)Cut behind the cats and replace everything from there back, leaving the seven year old cats in there. or 2) Cut in front of the cats, replace evrything with new pipe, and run the system without cats, with 02 simulators, like a Mustang.

get new cats

I am assuming you must be outside of CA.
If you have to get a smog anytime soon, I would get some cats for smog and performance sake. You have more to lose by removing them unless they are plugged.
