Should I do a turn down or not.

I gotta 2002 Ford F-150 EXT. Cab 4.6 V8 and I'm fixin to put a 40 series Flowmaster on it tomorrow. I was wondering should I do a turn down on it or not, around here tips are kinda played out. If so how far back should I go with it before I turn em down. Also will it matter that the muffler is a 1 inlet 2 outlet dual muffler. Just don't want it to be too loud. Thanks.

Personally I think the only way to go is straight out the back. When you say turned down you mean you want the tip to point straight down? I wouldn't do that if I was you. And the 40's si/do isn't too loud...it had its points where its loud.

I did the exact thing that you are looking to do on my 1997 with a 4.6, flowmaster origional 40 SISO dumped. I highly recommend doing this. interior noise isnt bad at all and you can definitely hear it going down the road. I couldnt be happier with the way my truck sounds. first i swapped the muffler (not loud enough) then i dumped it and the sound was perfect. I bought an 18 inch extension pipe from pepboys (around $7) and a turndown at auto zone for $5. I dumped mine after the cab so it would pass inspection and my dad said the exhaust has to go pastt the cab becuase if a cop saw it he would give you a ticket. Also, took about 10 min to put on turndown and finish everything. If your exhaust exits liek mine, there are a few rubber hangers and if you can get some of those reverse opening snap-ring pliers than you can open up the rubber thing and slide out the hanger, made life a lot easier. Others just unbolt. Heres some pics i hope i helped you make a decision good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Exiting in front of rear tire no turndown yet and too quiet.

After turndown, awesome sound

Turndown again
