Exhaust

I cut my pipes @ the Y,ran 2 seperate pipes back into a Magnaflow X pipe, into a set of FM 40 series mufflers and dumped the exhust just in front of the rear bumper,no tips.Last month I installed my high flow cats, and that really freed up some HP,plus the sound, nice throaty rumble @ idle,my gearhead friends tell me it sounds like there Mustangs,I dont quite hear it,but if they say so.There are so many different exhaust parts and ways to do it,look around, ask some questions I'm sure you'll find what you want.Good luck, hope this helped.

Borla

Just yesterday had the shop install a Borla dual out on my 06 Fx4 Supercab. Looks cool with the tips out the back and sounds great. Had to adjust the clearance between the tips and the rear bumper - they were almost 1/4 inch clearance as they installed it, and as it heated up the tips would touch the bumper - so I lowered it another half inch - everything is great now.

I'm not a big fan of the real loud exhausts, so the Borla is perfecet for me - more of a refined rumble, although when you start it up at 5:00 am when it's silent outside and the engine is cold, you can appreciate how much louder it is than stock until the idle slows down.

Nubuck83, I've also got a 97 f150 mines got the 4.6 and at first I was running the flowmaster 40 series with 3" pipes and 3 1/2" tips running behind my rear wheels. I loved it. Great deep tone with no pinging at all. After a couple months I added a manual cut-out along with my exhaust and when it's uncapped it just sounds perfect in my opionion. Made it even deeper and alot meaner. Now if I had the money to spend on a borla or a banks I'd probly do it all over again cause your gonna see a little more low end. But for the price, I love it.
