want louder exhaust

I have magnaflow exhaust right now and it make my truck sound really weak. Can i replace my muffler with a flowmaster muffler or a y pipe and still run the magnaflow stainless pipes? The magnaflow is just to quiet for me. Im not removing my cats. Can anyone post some soundclips of the new 5.4 with a set of flows and a straightpipe exhaust?

I have a 97 4.6 with the flowmaster 40 muffler 3" pipes and 3 1/2" tips with a manual cut-out and it sounds much better than the rest of my friends trucks. The thing I like best about the manual cut-out is it doesn't make it so loud your going to get pulled over, but it gives it much more of a growl in my opion. Also you can go back to just using the muffler by just screwing on a plate. I picked it up at summit for like 30 bucks and made a world of diffrence for me. Maybe its something you might consider.

Maybe try and sell the whole kit on ebay or something, but you should be able to adapt a different muffler into there, just measure and go shopping. The exhausts get louder in time depending on how long you have had yours. I noticed my JBA got alot louder over time, surprisingly, plus it's a straight through muffler with reversed louvers inside.

Right, your exhaust will get louder. I have true duels stock size pipe all the way except 4in tips w/ 2 flowmaster 40s and mine is prob twice as loud as it used to be. A few months and it will be different.

Louder muffler

Which muffler do you have? How long? You just change it to a different length for more sound.

You should be able to put different styles together but i would highly recommend to try to run the same pipes and muffler type.

I have 18 inch aluminized Sweet Thunder mufflers. They are awesome. Really loud and great sounding without being too loud on the freeway. My two cents. Look at my sig. to listen to a clip of my 2005 GTO.
