CAI and Lean Codes

I've been doing some research on here about CAI's and i've noticed that on the 04's there seems to be a problem with the trucks taking on a lean condition. I know that the best thing to do is get a custom tune, but there are no dyno's around here i can make it to and i'm looking into getting a CAI very soon. I do have the Superchips programmer and run the 3rd setting w/93 octane fuel. I'm looking at the 57 series FIPK intake for my truck. Is everyone having the lean problem, or just a few members? Also, w/ the programmer am i going to have the problem? Any help as to what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Lean problems seem to vary with the intake. Call Troyer and ask his advise.

I answered my own question, for those interested, I talked to Crystal at Troyer (VERY helpful and nice person) and she informed that if i wanted a CAI that didn't throw codes, i would need to go with a 3" tube. For bigger tubes i would need a custom tune.

So does that mean that the AF1 is the only intake that will work?? They say the Airraid won't cause codes either. I don't like the oiled filter though. From what I have seen the AEM doesn't cause codes and is oil free.

Crystal said that the AF1 can't have a larger than 3" tube, sorry, i'm not sure about other brands. I still want the FIPK, but i've read it throws codes. Let me just say i've partially answered my own question.

I'm finally ready to take the plunge myself and get an intake for my '04, 5.4l. I've been away from these forums in awhile, so I'm curious what the consensus is (after all these years) as to which intake(s) caused the least number of CEL codes. I seem to remember the Airraid being a heavy favorite, while the AF1 caused alot of problems for people when it first came out. I'm not sure about the AEM though...
