Exhaust Leak Fix????

I'm wondering if anybody has removed their stock manifolds to remove broken studs and put the stock maifolds back on? I have a 98 F150 4X4 and I would like to fix the leaks but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to put the stock manifolds back on. I don't want to spend a fortune on headers or dealer parts. Does anybody have any first hand experiance with these http://www2.partstrain.com/products/...WD_SC-008.html or any other aftermarket parts? Also where should I buy the studs? Part numbers would be great if you have them.

Thanks
MM

had the same problem on my 97 4.6 passenger side manifold and bolts were rusted down to almost nothing. plan on about 4-5 hours. have pb blaster, swivel sockets, those bolt out sockets from sears really helped me.those are great for rusted stud ends.soak all the bolts overnite.i just pickes up the studs at autozone. got a manifold from rockauto.com for 60$. everything went back together fine. dealer wanted 200$ for a new manifold .rip off!!

I used those exact manifolds from partstrain.com on my 98 4.6.
There is nothing wrong with them, and they fit great. I couldn't find them cheaper any where else, and am glad I grabbed them up.
They come with NO hardware. I grabbed the studs/nuts from the Ford dealer. Get the hardware for the other end too (exhaust end), it isn't just a nut and bolt. It is a special piece. Get good gaskets too.

I had to replace the manifold to egr tube also. It was very rusted.

I had the manifolds, egr tube, and front o2 sensors replaced for $250 labor (using all my parts). I felt the labor was worth it!

I topped it all off with a Magnaflow cat-back .

My trucks is back on the road, and sounds great! Good Luck!

If you search "exhaust stud" you will find part numbers, prices and websites for parts. Also ways to remove broken studs.

I used rockauto.com for manifold and got nuts, studs from on line Ford Dealer.
