I just bought an 02 f150 fx4, and it has flowmaster exhaust. im just trying to find out if there is any way to id the muffler and figure out what series it is

 

I have the original 40s on mine but I don't think there's any identifying marks on it. It might be the size though. The super 40s are a little larger than the original 40s.

 

and the Super 40s are black, other 40s aren't, is it deep & loud all the time? 40 series, does it have a nice steady idle & quiet yet loud take off? 50 series. Or call Flowmaster with the #s on ur muffler & see if they can identify it.

 

My flowmaster has a number on it, look for it I think it was on one of the ends. Then just go to Flowmasters web site and look up that number on the application chart for your truck.
