Exhuast shops wont touch it???

hey guys I need some serious help here. I live in southern oregon and I've called just about every shop in town. No one wants to install the exhaust I want. Which is a true dual with an x-pipe 2 hi-flow cats and either Mags or FlowMs ( I haven't decided yet) with tail pipes out the back. I even told the shops that the whole exhaust was already off, which it isn't, and they say they HAVE to reinstall the factory system. I thought they are only liable if they removed it, am I wrong? the cheapest place I found said im looking at about $400 to do the job if I include the mufflers and cats!

Does anyone know of a shop near Medford OR that can just bend and weld some freaking pipe for me, and not give me a bunch of BS about the truck not running right or not passing emissions? if the CEL is off and the "sniffer" says Im ok then WTF is the problem? (little rant there hehe)

thanks everyone!

The problem is a $10,000 fine from the EPA if they are caught doing any emissions modifications. They can legally do cat-backs but they can't touch the cats except to replace them with stock or EPA-certified replacements.

Have you tried local speed shops, or maybe buy a complete mid pipe with hiflow cats like bassani that you could install yourself. Then let a local muffler shop finish the rest. Could probably buy mid pipe for around $450 - $500.

Exhaust shops aren't supposed to replace the cats unless they've failed.

Local guys here didn't even want to touch the y-pipe when I asked for an x-pipe. I haven't done anything to my exhaust yet.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I might have found a shop that will do it for me, but its a long shot. I will find out tomorrow. Otherwise Im going to install the cats myself and hope that someone will at least do the mufflers for me without too much trouble.

do what I did with my minivan, chop the cat in half and drive it up there and say, fix it. it worked for me with two cars

it was about 500 for each exhaust.
