Flowmasters give the best sound, hands down. The magnaflows have always sounded crappy on fords.

Ah ha! I didn't realize that. Thanks.

Well, I tried email, and that doesn't work, either, so 28offroader, if you're interested, send me a note at alshemo (at) Yahoo (dot) com.

I went with a 14" Magnaflow 12198 SI/DO exiting lightning style in front of the rear tire. It sounds exactly like I wanted it too..no too loud at cruising, but when I get on it, I know I got on it..and the low RPM throat is right on...

This muffler is getting louder as it's breaking in. I hav'nt tested it dumped yet and figure I'll give it awhile longer to finish the break in period. It just might be okay after totall break in.

dinty -

did you install the cat back system yourself? also, are you worried about the exhaust fumes damaging the finish on your rim?

I am interested in installing the exact system you have on my 2005 SCrew 4x4, so if you could post a sound clip I would appreciate it.

I am looking at the magnaflow kit or the bassani since I have decided I really want the exhaust to exit in front of the wheel.

Any advice would be appreciated.

jrab, I didnt install a kit. i went to the muffler shop told them I wanted a 14 inch maggie, and that I wanted it to dual out in front of my right rear...they set it all up. anyway, no, Im not worried about my wheels, and the soundclip i will try to get it posted. I will say, it looks very sporty and I like the sound it gives in the cab when im on it..

to add, I had looked at those kits that you are looking at....for the money, they really arent worth all that. I paid 200 installed for all mine, which isnt great, but it beats the 300 shipped plus install price...

my muffler shop left the hangers, but I removed the rubber mounts...just in case I decide to later go with a full exhaust again...they arent hurting anything, and dont show...

When I installed the new muffler I also purchased a universal hanger but ended up taking it back. The new muffler is so much smaller and lighter it is'nt needed as there was enough support with other existing hangers.

I put an IMCO extreme dumped right where the stock muffler was, it sounds great and is really loud but its too loud in the cab. So Friday I am having true duals with a custom x-pipe straights exiting lightning style. It should be quiter in the cab but louder outside as it doesnt exit under the cab anymore. I love my Imco and if your looking for a great sound from just a muffler I think its the best way to go, not the performance from the Maggy but I dont felt I lost any power with it.
