Whats the Quietest Muffler

My fiance on valentines day wants to buy me a muffler. I am looking for a muffler only no pipes. I want some performance if possible but quietest as possible. Just a hair louder than stock is what Im looking for. So Magnaflow(which part #) or the Flowmaster 50 or 70 series? I know some will say why even get a muffler then? Well I dont like it loud anymore and my last trucks were straight piped but I like it quite now. Thanks Im gonna order one next week.

5 x 8 x 24" Magnaflow in either SS or satin. I had one and it was quiet, took it off and went louder.

I have the 50 series and it is still loud. If you listen for it, you can hear it probably about half a mile away if not more while your on the gas.

Go to Midas and take a look at their performance muffler. I had one on my 2000 Expy and it had a great sound. Nice rumble at idle, and a bit louder at WOT, but quiet at speed. A bit less noise than my 50 series SI/DO flowmaster.

I put a Magnaflow # 11266 which is a 4"X9"oval and is 18" long. I just put it in place of the stock muffler and left the stock pipes. It sounds very nice but quiet. My wife did not even notice it until I told her about it. It gives me the performance but has a nice sound. Definitely not too loud at all.

Friend of mine had a Chebby w/a Gibson. He had it for a month and sold it because it was too quiet.

I am wanting something that is not to loud also on my 05 with the 4.6L. I have been thinking about getting the Flowmaster 50 series with a side exit set up. I had a 40 series Flowmaster on the Sport Trac that I had and it was to loud.

I have an 05 with the 4.6. I originally had the 40 series installed but after a week of a constant headache from the drone, I put in the 50 series delta flow. I think this exhaust is just right IMO.

I don't understand. If you want the quietest, why not leave it stock?

Probably cause he wants a performance muffler without waking up his wife when he comes home late at night after hooken-up with his girlfriend Just kidden, The Magnaflow is a good choice. I had one on my 01 SCAB 4x4. Almost nothing at idle, mild rumble when you take off. Nice sound at WOT, and good performance gains. I think the part # is 16612. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure about the Magaflow mufflers but they definatly are the quietest, Flowmaster will still roar, 2500rpm takeoff sounds like a 3500 - 4000 take off on any muffler, thats why I love Flowmaster

I know what you want though, something with a little more rumble but not obnoxious to wake people up at night & make the people on the sidewalks def lol. Magnaflow 22" muffler sounds like ur winner.

I saw it, but in my opinion, anything that will be quiet will not give you any measurable performance boost and will just be a waste of money. To get any performance boost, you have to open it up some, and that means a little noise. If you want the least noise with performance, then Magnaflo. Personally, I love the way my Flowmaster 40 SIDO sounds. Not too loud, and it does not drone on the highway but has a very deep sound.
