F-150 true dual exhaust

i was wondering what type of true dual exhaust to put on my 2001 F150. I want a 3" exhaust and an x pipe and electronic cutouts.

Thanks

i would not reccommend 3" pipe. and i dont know if any exhaust expert would reccomend it either for a relatively stock engine. i do not know exactly your application, but i would definitely go with the x pipe. i personally like the sound of spin tech mufflers. their website is www.spintechmufflers.com-i am running magnaflow on mine

I agree that 3" is way big for a stock small block - it would even be big for a stock big block. 2" duals is plenty big, over that you throw away low end performance.
X or H pipes are to balance the exhaust and improve scavenging. I like x better than h pipes, but either will help.

2.5" true duals with an x pipe shortly after the left pipe is guded over to meet with the right pipe, & no cutouts

if you wanted that setup you'd have to do it yourself. i just finished that same setup on my truck, minus the X-pipe (at least for now). flow master makes a kit for older camaros and firebirds that i used (every bend imaginable). it comes with tubes for an h-pipe. it worked pretty good. it may be too big, but nothing sounds like 3" duals w/ headers...

4.6L=2.25" piping for true duals
5.4L=2.5" piping for true duals.

you dont want 3" as it will cause the torque band to go way up into the higher rpms and not the low rpms where a truck needs it.

its -10 outside, the hell with that i'll do it next month maybe I hate the cold so much, good thing is even though my truck is the rust king, I was able to loosen the stock muffler hanger plate from above the stock muffler, now I gotta try the tip sometime, I felt it & its very rusty, might just cut it off 1" from the frame and re-weld it on when I get another truck, but so far it all looks like its gonna work out great! I still need jackstands though.

Left side of engine has a manifold, collector, cat, muffler, and tip. Same with right. Two seperate systems per engine side, possibly a crossover pipe thrown in for pulse equalization. Just because you see two tailpipes does not mean dual exhaust.

I'm in the preocess of looking to do the same setup on my truck. An xpipe right where the ypipe is dual 2.5" piping into two flowmaster 40 series mufflers. I got quoted 900 dollars in order to do this but that seemed high. I'm lookign at maybe getting 300
