Another intake question

I've been reading the comments and suggestions and have learned alot. BUT... I have yet another question about the intake on the 06 5.4 3V. Currently I have the K&N 63 intake. It cleaned up the engine bay and did give alittle power gain but it's to loud and starting to annoy me plus at idle even with the heat shield my IAC rapidly raises (according to the edge). Finally here's the question: If I installed the stock intake box and summit tube (basically the same without the silencers) back on, Would I notice a huge difference in power? Would my IAC be more controled sucking the air from the fender ? Is the stock design that bad? The only thing that sucks is the tiny 52mm opening at the fender. Any comments would be great. Thanks

Even with the stock intake, you're gonna see iat temps rise when you're sitting still. The intake still gets warmer air, and the underhood temps warm up the intake pipe. If I leave my truck idling for long periods, the iat can go up 10-20-sometimes 30 degrees from ambient. Bore out the hole in the fender and fab up your own intake to go in it. Or just put a 90 degree bend in your intake pipe and run it out the hood! Either way it won't make a hill of beans difference, and your edge will verify that.
